The braking systems are essentially divided into two main types: service brakes and parking brakes.

SERVICE BRAKE:

It allows to reduce the speed of a moving vehicle or machinery by transforming it into heat, through the friction of mechanical elements (jaws against the drums or pads against the discs), all through a mechanical or hydraulic drive.

PARKING BRAKE:

It is used to block the vehicle even in slope conditions or in emergency situations (for example when the service brake does not work during the journey). This is an independent brake and can not be used for service braking.
